NCAI renews objection to Bill Myers nomination

The National Congress of American Indians will discuss tribal opposition to judicial nominee Bill Myers at a press conference on Monday.

Myers was re-nominated for a spot on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals after being blocked by Democrats last year. Tribal leaders say he is a bad choice for the court because of his actions on sacred sites and the trust fund when he was the Interior Department's top lawyer.

The press conference comes one day before the Senate Judiciary Committee holds another confirmation hearing for Myers. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pennsylvania), chairman of the committee, says Republicans will endorse Myers.

The press conference will be held in Room 485 of the Russell Senate Building at 10am.
