Nike develops the 'Air Native N7' for Native feet

You've heard of Air Jordans. Now get ready for the Air Native N7, a shoe designed for Native Americans.

Nike studied the feet of 224 people from more than 70 tribes. The Oregon company found that Native people, in general, have a wider and taller foot -- three times larger than the average Nike shoe, in fact.

So Nike came up with a new shoe that will be sold exclusively to tribes and tribal schools for about $42 a pair. "We are stepping up our commitment ... to elevate the issue of Native American health and wellness," said Sam McCracken, the manager of Nike's Native American Business program, the Associated Press reported.

The shoe features a sunrise to sunset pattern tongue and heel of the shoe. Feathers run on the inside and stars run on the sole of the shoe.
