Erich Longie: 'Sioux' opponents won't give up fight
Monday, May 4, 2009

"I was dismayed to read my cousin Eunice Davidson’s letter in which she apologized to the Engelstad family and the people of North Dakota for the activities held at Spirit Lake Nation.

I want to be very clear about this. Davidson does not speak for me and the other 371 tribal members who voted against the logo. I, in particular, do not apologize and will not apologize to anyone for my actions in trying to prevent an outside organization coming onto the reservation and unfairly influencing an election.

What is really unfortunate is that if they’d been left alone, Spirit Lake voters would have voted to put an end to 80 years of racist tradition.

In fact, Davidson and the pro-logo supporters should do even more apologizing."
