Board meeting to discuss fate of 'Fighting Sioux'

The North Dakota Board of Higher Education is meeting today and will reportedly vote on the future of the controversial "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo of the University of North Dakota.

A supporter of the logo said board members are prepared to kill the name even though members of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation backed it in a recent vote.

Ron His Horse Is Thunder, the chairman of theStanding Rock Sioux Tribe, is lobbying the board to kill the name. Some tribal members want a referendum on the issue.
