Ex-Anderson partner has projects before BIA

A former partner of Bureau of Indian Affairs nominee "Famous" Dave Anderson has three casino projects pending before the agency, The Duluth News Tribune reports.
Lyle Berman, described as a longtime friend, said he doesn't expect special treatment.
Anderson said he will recuse himself from any case where had a prior relationship.
In 1989, Berman and Anderson formed a casino management company called
Grand Casinos Inc. Anderson resigned from the firm in 1996 to pursue his line of barbecue restaurants.
Anderson has had interests in other gaming ventures. He owned stock in Park Place Entertainment Corp., the largest gaming company in the world. Park Place is working with the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation of New York on an off-reservation casino and has deals with other tribes.
Andersen has a confirmation hearing before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs on October 22.
