Hearing on BIA pick Anderson moved to new room
Tuesday, October 21, 2003

The confirmation hearing for Bureau of Indian Affairs nominee Dave Anderson has been moved to a larger room.

The hearing will still take place at 10 a.m. but will occur in Senate Dirksen Room 106.

Introducing Anderson will be Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.). Louis Taylor, chairman of the La Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and Audrey Bennett, president of the Prairie Island Indian Community, will testify on panel one.

Anderson, a member of the La Courte Oreilles Band, is the sole witness on panel two. Anderson is the founder of the Famous Dave's national chain of barbecue restaurants.

The hearing may or may not be accessible via the Internet. "Security measures implemented on the Senate live video feed server, and similar but incompatible security measures implemented by some ISP providers, make it impossible for some users to watch live video of Committee hearings, or any other Senate hearings," a note on the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs website states.

An audio-only feed, unaffected by the Senate's security measures, will be provided by C-SPAN's Capitolhearings.org web site. The link for SD-106 is http://video.c-span.org:8080/ramgen/encoder/dirksen106.rm. Check http://www.capitolhearings.org for more information.
