Ex-Anderson partner funding Nipmuc recognition bid

A former business partner to Bureau of Indian Affairs nominee is funding the Nipmuc Nation's bid for federal recognition.
Lyle Berman is chief executive of Lakes Gaming, a gaming management company.
It was formed when Berman split from another management company he formed with Anderson.
The BIA has denied preliminary recognition to two Nipmuc groups in Massachusetts.
The Nipmuc Nation, one of the two, hopes to reverse the decision. Anderson has said he would recuse himself from dealings affecting former business interests.
