Wis. gaming lawsuit moved to new court
TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2002

An Indian gaming lawsuit filed by three Ojibwe tribes in Wisconsin has been moved.

The Sokaogon, Lac Courte Oreilles and Red Cliff bands filed the suit against Secretary of Interior Gale Norton in Washington, D.C. A federal judge agreed to move the case to Wisconsin.

The case challenges a provision in Indian gaming law that requires state approval of off-reservation casino decisions. Gov. Scott McCallum (R) vetoed the tribes' proposed development.
