Kansas casino battle continues
MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2002 The state of Kansas and four tribes are back in court again over a proposed casino. The state and the tribes filed a lawsuit against the Department of Interior regarding land held in trust for the Wyandotte Nation. The status of the land owned by the Oklahoma tribe was recently affirmed in a decision by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The state and the Kansas tribes say the decision was made without consultation. The Kansas City Star appears to agree and in editorial writes that the Wyandotte Tribe "is not acting in good faith" by seeking casino development. Get the Story:
